Mark Morrisroe (1959-1989) was an influential American photographer, performance artist, and filmmaker who served as a central figure in the Boston punk scene of the 1970s and the New York art boom of the 1980s. When he was 17 years old, he was shot in the back, leaving him with a bullet lodged next to his spine for the rest of his life. He died of AIDS complications. His last words to his friends were “take my photo”. On the second click of the shutter he was gone.
